Creating mailing lists with mail merge

The session is suitable for people who are already using Word who want to learn how create lists and labels. Kingston Library is running a course on MS Word for beginners. The session is suitable for people who have either attended an Introduction to Computers course, or those who can already use a keyboard and mouse.It covers the basics of opening Microsoft Word, creating and saving a document. Students will also learn how to change the appearance of text using the features on the formatting toolbar. The course costs just £1.50. How to Google

New Malden Library is offering an IT taster course called How to Google.
The practical taster session will explore ways of getting information quickly and efficiently from Internet search engines and the reliability of online information. Introduction to the internet
Tudor Drive Library is running an internet course for beginners on Friday 13 August, 10-12pm. The session is suitable for people who have either attended an Introduction to Computers course, or those who can already use a keyboard and mouse.
It covers what is available via the Internet and the basic features of Internet Explorer. You will learn how to open a website if you know the address, and how to use a search engine to search for information when you do not know where to start. Tickets are just £1.50.

Course: Tables and borders in MS Word
Tolworth Library is running a course on how use tables and borders in Microsoft Word. The course focusses on getting the most from tables in Word and will give a good grounding for Mailmerge. Fees are just £3 payable at time of booking, and the course is on Wed 4 August, 9:45 – 11:45 am.
Managing files and folders on your computer
Old Malden Library is running a course suitable for people with some knowledge of using a computer and saving files. The course concentrates on learning Windows Explorer and creating folders, moving files, copying files, deleting & renaming files and folders, and also looking at file extensions and the different views (such as details, thumbnails etc).

Oyster cards on sale at Kingston Library
Kingston Library recently started offering Oyster card top ups and the service has been very popular with visitors. Oyster card owners can pop along to the branch in Fairfield Road, Kingston, and top up their cards. You don’t need to be a member of the library, but while you are there you can join too. You can download a membership form from the links below and take along a piece of ID.
Deputy Mayor launches the Summer Reading Challenge
Kingston Children’s Library was honoured to welcome Deputy Mayor Ken Smith last Wednesday to launch the annual Summer Reading Challenge. Pupils from St Joseph’s School attended and were entertained by a storyteller before helping the Deputy Mayor to cut the ribbon at the end of the event. The children were keen to start swapping their Mungler cards once the formalities were over.
